Megan Fox lost millions to avoid Angelina Jolie comparisons: Deets

Hollywood diva Megan Fox once committed a ‘career suicide’ by turning down a role as a replacement for Angelina Jolie.

Fox who kickstarted her career in 2001 with brief, unnoticeable roles in films and TV, came into notice after portraying Mikaela Banes in Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’ films. The role made her a household name, followed by more work.

However, the success hit a roadblock after she was fired from the action franchise for publically accusing Bay of being a tyrant on the sets.

Around the same time, she was offered to play Lara Croft in the video game franchise ‘Tomb Raider’. However, the actor turned down the perfectly apt role for her persona along with a hefty paycheck of $17 million, in order to dissuade further comparisons to Angelina Jolie.

At that time, Fox maintained that the step was taken due to creative differences with the makers, and the real reason was revealed much later.

As per the source close to Fox, “The offer has been on the table for Megan for a while but she’s reluctantly turned it down. She’s the logical choice to play Lara and she loves the character but the comparison with Angelina [Jolie] is too much.”

For the unversed, Jolie portrayed Croft in the duology, ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘The Cradle of Life’.

As per one of the reports, Fox did not want to be seen as ‘poor man’s Angelina Jolie’.

Lara Croft eventually went to the actor Alicia Vikander for the ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot, released in 2018.
