A life of fame always seemed likely for Mikayla Demaiter.

The Canada native grew up playing hockey and continued what looked like a career that would end up on the professional level.

Unfortunately, injuries cut a once-promising career shot.

“Dear Hockey,

It is time to say goodbye. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus. I want to thank you for the places we’ve gone together. I also want to thank you for all the friends you have made me. My family sends their best as well. I know they will definitely miss seeing us together.
I am excited for the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you.

Thanks again for everything,” Demaiter said in a retirement post in 2019.

But she didn’t dwell on the injury and the end her hockey career. Instead, Demaiter switched gears and became immensely famous in another line of work: modeling.

The blonde bombshell began modeling around the time of her retirement. She’s since amassed over 2.3 million followers on her Instagram account.

And it’s not hard to see why.

Demaiter’s latest viral offering has over 170,000 likes and nearly 4,000 comments.

It shows her in Curacao showing off a wine-colored top and skirt with the caption “providing some new lock screen wallpaper options for you… granted you may never want to unlock your phone.”

Demaiter may not ever win gold in net for Team Canada at the Olympics. But it seems like Plan B is certainly working out pretty well for her.
