The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced 73.5 million new Gold and Platinum Program certifications for Eminem.
The recent spike, which comes in the wake of his recent performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige, now makes him the most awarded musical artist for singles in RIAA history, according to Variety.
The Detroit rapper also joined a prestigious list as one of seven musicians in any musical genre or era with three or more Diamond Album Awards.

Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III), 49, had already been considered among the best-selling musical artists of all time.
But the new certifications pushed him over the top, into a league all of his own, in terms of singles.

The RIAA also broke down his all time career numbers in the another tweet, while also acknowledging another accolade for his first greatest hits album.

Eminem’s combined six RIAA Diamond awards – three albums and three singles –only cement his place as one of the most accomplished artists in history.
‘These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last twenty years,’ RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier said in a statement, as reported by Complex.
‘With today’s announcement, Eminem becomes the top certified singles artist in our program’s history and adds a rare third Diamond Album to his many creative accomplishments. Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever!’
Massive: With the new certified units, the hip hop legend now has a total of 227.5 million units, which breaks down to 166 million singles and 61.5 albums
To reach a gold certification for both singles and albums in the U.S., an artist must reach 500,000 units; 1,000,000 units for platinum; multi-Platinum is 2,000,000 plus; and 10,000,000 to reach diamond.
Since 2013, the streaming of songs in the U.S. counts towards certification of singles with 150 streams being the equivalent of 1 unit sold.
And since February 2016, the RIAA includes on-demand audio and video streams and a track sale equivalent in Gold and Platinum Album Award. The program will count both sales and streams for single and album certifications.

Eminem’s career dates back to his first studio album – Infinite – which dropped back in November 1996.
The hip hop legend began to see huge mainstream success when he took on the alter-ego Slim Shady, along with his recruitment of Dr. Dre as co-producer and guest rapper, for his second studio album – The Slim Shady LP (1999).
In all, the rapper has released 11 solo studio albums, with the most recent being Music To Be Murdered By (2020), which was produced by Eminem and Dr Dre, among several others.
