On Friday, Smith shared a post in honor of Willow receiving a pair of nominations for the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards. In his post, the actor shared a trio of clips marking the significant achievement. According to Smith, he’s overjoyed for Willow, who has experienced the highs and lows of the music industry, only to receive the well-deserved nominations.
“CONGRATS, MA BEAN! 2 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS… WHOA! @OfficialWillow,” Smith wrote. “I’ve watched you Suffer: Crying, Falling, Struggling, Rising, Training, Learning, Changing, Quitting, Growing, Collapsing, Rebuilding… And Now… Manifesting Your Wildest Dreams! I am honored to be your Daddy.”

The 24-year-old is nominated for Best Engineered Album, Nonclassical for her latest project, Empathogen, and Best Arrangement, Instrumentals, and Vocals for “Big Feelings.” Empathogen, Willow’s sixth album, was released in May and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s US Top Jazz Albums chart.
While he’s celebrating his daughter’s huge accomplishment, the elder Smith is also mourning a huge loss. Quincy Jones, the person who gave Will his first acting gig, passed away earlier this week. In a series of posts, Will honored the late songwriter, producer and composer.
“Quincy Jones is the definition of a Mentor, a Father and a Friend. He pointed me toward the greatest parts of myself,” Smith wrote in one post with a photoset showing him and Jones during the time The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air began airing. “He defended me. He nurtured me. He encouraged me. He inspired me. He checked me when he needed to. He let me use his wings until mine were strong enough to fly.”
