Cardi B has set the record straight regarding her and her husband Offset going 50/50 amid backlash to her apparent belief that couples should split their expenses equally.

On Sunday (March 17), the Bronx native hopped on Instagram Live to clarify previous comments regarding the topic she feels were misinterpreted.

“The men started praising me and the women started attacking me,” she said of the initial reaction to a now-viral post of her discussing the matter that surfaced over the weekend. “First things first, I never said women and men have to go 50/50.”

Cardi continued, adding, “I want to make this very f**king clear. Me and Offset, we don’t go 50/50. We bought a house, and we went half and half on our Atlanta home. We got two properties that we bought together, two investment homes. I bought my home in Jersey myself, and he bought a condo in Miami himself.“

Following the taping of her Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast episode, cohost Wallo267 uploaded a clip on IG of Cardi sharing her take on financial responsibilities between partners in marriages and committed relationships as a whole.

“If you and yo’ man make the same amount of money, right? But only your man is the one paying all the bills, how [are] y’all ever going to save up to buy a house or buy a business?” the hitmaker asked. “‘Cause he’s never going to be able to afford to. So, it’s like… certain things, it’s a joint thing to do, you know what I’m saying? It’s like a work together.”

Cardi continued, attributing the public’s warped view of relationships and gender roles to the internet and social media. “The internet really be having people f**ked up from like real reality type sh*t,” she said. “Y’all be acting like y’all don’t know what the f**k that is like no more. Come on… Y’all don’t be living in the real world.”
