Auston Matthews has done it again! The Toronto Maple Leafs superstar lit the lamp for his league-leading 60th goal of the season in a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. The crowd, despite being in Buffalo, was overwhelmingly supportive of the Leafs and Matthews, as a chorus of “MVP! MVP!” chants echoed throughout the arena.

With his historic goal, Matthews becomes the first NHL player in 30 years to score 60 goals in multiple seasons. He matches his own franchise record set during the 2021-22 season, further solidifying his place as one of the game’s all-time greats.

AUSTON MATTHEWS: HISTORY MAKER AND MVP FRONTRUNNER

Matthews’ relentless pursuit of the net and his laser-accurate shot make him a nightmare for opposing goaltenders. His 60-goal achievement further bolsters his case as the frontrunner for the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to ride this momentum into their next game on Monday against the Florida Panthers. Matthews will undoubtedly be hungry to add to his goal tally and continue his historic season.
