Before P. Diddy faced dark allegations and his two homes were raided, his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez had a lot to say about their relationship.

When Sean Combs or P. Diddy’s homes were raided in March 2024 and the world learned about the ongoing sex trafficking and assault allegations, everyone began reflecting on his life. This included his past romances, especially his late 1990s/early 2000s relationship with Jennifer Lopez. Since they are both part of the music industry, it seemed like a good match at the time.

However, as more allegations have come out against P. Diddy, people have wondered what the relationship was like behind the scenes. In this article, we’ll take a look at what Jennifer Lopez revealed about dating P. Diddy, along with whether she commented on the raids. We’ll also take a look at the 1999 nightclub shooting that took place during the couple’s relationship.

What Did Jennifer Lopez Say About Her Relationship With P. Diddy?

After Jennifer Lopez and P. Diddy’s breakup in 2001, Lopez never held back and was honest when talking about why the relationship ended. In an interview with Vibe Magazine in 2003, Lopez said that P. Diddy cheated on her. Her comments make him look terrible, especially coupled with the allegations.

She said that he would often go clubbing and stay out all night without coming back home. She explained:

”I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”

Lopez shared that his infidelity made for a chaotic time in her life. She said:

”It was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful. I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin.”

In an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, Lopez talked about Diddy helping her music career. While it makes sense that she said that he supported her and showed her the ropes, it seems unlikely that Lopez would say this now, knowing the allegations against Diddy.

Lopez said:

“We had this kinda crazy, tumultuous relationship that ended in a bang, let’s say. It was definitely a moment, but I felt like it was necessary. Like, he was meant to be in my life at that moment to teach me what I needed to know about this music business, about what kind of artist I wanted to be in the music industry.”

Lopez also said during her CBS Mornings Interview that when she dated the rapper, it was a “crazy heightened time.”

In 2014, P. Diddy talked about Jennifer Lopez’s butt, which was definitely awkward. According to The Daily Mail, he said, “It’s great, it’s a work of art. It’s something that will go down in history for real.” When a reporter asked Lopez about this quote during an interview with Access Hollywood, she praised his music career and said, “He gave me so many cues and taught me so many things.”

She continued, “I’ll always be grateful to him for that and I love that he can be so supportive of me so many years later and that there’s still so much mutual respect, admiration and love there.” While she sounded positive in this interview, which took place a decade before his 2024 house raids and allegations, it doesn’t seem likely that she would say the same today.

Did Jennifer Lopez Comment On The P. Diddy Allegations And The 1999 Nightclub Shooting?

While, at the time of this writing, Jennifer Lopez didn’t comment on the allegations against P. Diddy or his house raids, she was in the news again because of a shooting at a club in 1999.

According to Forbes, Jennifer Lopez was at a club in December 1999 with P. Diddy, his mentee Jamal “Shyne” Barrow, and bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones when a gunfight broke out. A trial took place but Jones and Diddy didn’t end up going to jail and were acquitted. However, Barrow spent nine years in prison. The New York Post reported that sources said that Lopez didn’t face any charges, was in jail for 14 hours, and then went home.

As Forbes reported, the incident involving P. Diddy and Jennifer Lopez became relevant again because Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr. sued Cuba Gooding Jr. and Diddy for sexual harassment and assault. According to the lawsuit, Jones said Diddy “shared that he was responsible for the shooting in the nightclub in New York City with rapper Shyne.”

The case is also getting attention again because one of the shooting victims, Natania Reuben, said “I’m willing to have a doctor remove a part of the 9 mm bullet in my face so that they can use it as evidence if need be for this trial.”

As The New York Post reported in March 2024, Jones said in his lawsuit against Diddy, “J.Lo carried the gun into the club for him and passed him the gun after he got into an altercation with another individual.” There is no confirmation that this happened.

In 2000, Lopez talked about the shooting in an interview with Elle and said:

“It was a complete nightmare from beginning to end. I was scared to death in the car. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. No one did.”
