Jennifer Lopez really believes in her latest album, This Is Me… Now, but she’s had a hard time getting fans onboard even after her Amazon Prime movie musical. Her upcoming tour has been struggling to sell tickets even after canceling seven dates, so she’s come up with a brilliant plan to rebrand the entire concept.

The 54-year-old superstar isn’t making a huge announcement about the change, though. She quietly added a tag to her This Is Me… Now Tour to This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits, according to Variety. The hope is that by letting her fans know that they are going to hear hits like “Jenny From the Block” and “If You Had My Love,” in addition to her new songs, it would generate more ticket sales.

LAS VEGAS, NV – MAY 19: Singer Jennifer Lopez performs onstage during the 2013 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 19, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Her latest album is viewed as a disappointment so far, only managing to sell 14,000 copies the week it dropped. Lopez poured her heart and soul, and $20 million of her own money, to finance the two video projects at Amazon to support her new music, so you can’t fault her for trying. However, fans are voicing their opinions about social media about how they are no longer connecting to her as an artist. “Let’s be honest, her recent string of catalog has not been good and based on the Super Bowl Performance, if that’s what you’re paying for, FORGET IT,” wrote one X critic. Another account added, “I think she needs to take some bigger risks.”

Jennifer Lopez Canceled 7 Tour Stops Without Explanation

But her fans were still chiming in support of their favorite artist and shared unverified statistics that “70%” of her concert tickets were already sold. Another follower noted that she’s in the middle of filming the movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, in New York which led to the cancellation of those seven concert dates. However, Lopez and her fellow A-list peers are finding it difficult to navigate the fall of celebrity culture — and they are trying everything to keep their grip on Hollywood in a very fickle climate.

“There’s pleasure in watching rich people who seem to have it all and these (moments) remind us that, well, they really don’t have it all,” Elizabeth Cohen, associate professor at West Virginia University told USA Today. That might be what is happening here with social media criticizing every single move celebs on Lopez’s level make. Fame isn’t a coveted quality anymore, and even though Lopez has thrived in the spotlight. The fans are looking for authenticity in their public personalities, not an aspirational lifestyle.
