A household name could be appearing on Friday Night SmackDown this week.

One legendary name will be making his way to WWE SmackDown this Friday.

This week’s episode of SmackDown will emanate from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s the place The Rock calls home, as that’s where he got his start in pro wrestling. Rumors have been swirling that WWE may be hosting a segment featuring a concert with The Rock.

Now, a report has surfaced claiming an iconic name will be making his way to Friday Night SmackDown.

PWInsider reports that wrestling legend and Memphis’ own Jerry “The King” Lawler will be at the show. There is currently no word on whether or not “The King” will appear on camera. Lawler had been planned for the Big Event convention in New York City this Saturday, but that plan has changed.

Back in late August 2023, Lawler made a surprise appearance during an episode of Monday Night Raw, but it didn’t air live. WWE posted the appearance as a digital exclusive. He also appeared on an episode of WWE NXT to announce Iron Survivor qualifying matches back in late November.

Lawler suffered a massive stroke back in early 2023, but he has been able to be in the public eye again in a short period of time. “The King” admitted to Bill Apter of Sportskeeda last year that the right side of his body was impacted by the stroke. Lawler said that while he can still walk, he has struggled maintaining control while signing autographs. Still, he has managed to overcome the obstacles, and he’s proud of himself for reaching that point.
