The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics has come to a close and French singer Zaho de Sagazan started off the Closing Ceremony in performance that had viewers confused by the ‘echo’ and the overall sound
The 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off on July 26, but now it’s time to wrap it up. The closing ceremony occurred on Aug. 11 where Olympians, celebrities, and fans gathered to celebrate yet another successful run of the event that takes place every four years.
As the Closing Ceremony started with a French singer Zaho de Sagazan singing a her cover of Sous le ciel de Paris by iconic French artist Edith Piaf. The Haendel-Hendrix Academy choir accompanied with background vocals during her performance in the Jardin des Tuileries.
While Zaho was performing, Olympics fans had thoughts about the performance especially on the sound quality of the performance. On X formerly Twitter one fan said: “The echo of that mic.” A second fan said: “Is this Satanist yet?” Another said: “Is this supposed to sound like that.” A fourth fan said: “This reverb is messing with my head.” A fifth fan said: “It sounds like they are doing something Unholy”
Zaho is a 24-year-old musician who began her career by posting music videos of herself singing on Instagram in 2015. She released her first album in March 31, 2023 called La Symphonie des éclairs. Before performing at the Closing Ceremony, she recently performed at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival in tribute of jury and director Greta Gerwig by singing David Bowie’s Modern Love.

This year’s Olympics saw the United States and the People’s Republic of China come out on top with massive wins and plenty of gold medals.
The Opening Ceremony included a the traditional relay of the torch with a flame that traveled from Greece to France. Additionally, fans were in awe athletes arrived by boat down the Seine, Paris’ famous river. However, the river itself was a source of controversy as the city vowed to clean up the pollution in time for the games to allow competitors to swim in it. However, Parisians weren’t convinced and swore to fight back against it.
