NBA’s hottest draft prospect Victor Wembanyama was head, shoulders, and elbows above his adoring fans.

The 7ft 5in Frenchman will arrive into the NBA with the most pressure and expectation any new player has experienced since LeBron James entered the division 20 years ago. He is expected to be the first overall pick when the NBA draft begins at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Wembanyama finally touched down at Newark International Airport outside New York City. He was greeted by a huge flock of adoring fans who wanted to get a glimpse of the next big thing in basketball.

Fortunately for him, he was able to see over the top of the huge crowd at the airport.

It’s very possible Wembanyama is currently nursing a very sore neck and back. He had to do so much bending down, whether it was to sign autographs, jerseys and merchandise or to pose for selfies.

“I don’t know how they knew what flight I was on, but it’s fun,” Wembanyama laughed at the airport. “It’s different, seeing that you can have such an impact on people.”

He will also have a huge impact on the team he is drafted to. The San Antonio Spurs look set to be his first ever NBA destination as they hold the No1 pick.
