Kim Kardashian has turned to her ex-husband Kanye West for support after she was threatened with the release of a second sex tape from her 2003 relationship with rapper Ray J, according to People.

The new series “The Kardashians,” which premiered its first episode on the family’s Hulu show, comes nearly 10 months after the end of the reality TV series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” (KUWTK) after 20 seasons.

Similar to the first episode of KUWTK, the theme of Kim Kardashian’s sex tape is central to “The Kardashians.” The first episode begins with the entire family gathering for a barbecue in the afternoon. Everything seems smooth until Kim notices a poster advertising her second sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J in a game on her son Saint’s (6 years old) iPad.

The sex tape was filmed while Kim was dating rapper Ray J in 2003 and was publicly released in 2007, causing the reality TV star distress for many years. “These are alleged to be unreleased footage from my old sex tape. The last thing I want as a mother is for my past to haunt me after almost 20 years, especially at this big gathering with my entire family present. This is truly humiliating, and I need to address it. I will address it. I can’t believe this is happening right now,” Kim said.

Later, as she prepares for an upcoming hosting gig on Saturday Night Live with Kris, Khloé, and Kourtney, Kim calls her lawyer to discuss the threat regarding the existence of the unreleased sex tape. Kim confirms she’s “99.9% sure” there are no additional scenes, but she’s deeply affected by having to deal with the public release of the sex tape once again.

“For 20 years, this mistake has weighed on me. Ray J was my boyfriend for many years. We traveled, we filmed videos. It’s shameful that it’s being made public. I’m human too. I did nothing wrong, I’m protecting myself, my reputation, and the interests of my children,” Kim said.

While trying to settle things with her legal team, Kim breaks down in tears discussing the sex tape leak with her ex-husband Kanye West. She filed for divorce from West in February 2021 after nearly 7 years of marriage. They share four children: Saint, North (8 years old), Chicago (4 years old), and Psalm (over 2 years old).

“I’ll lose my mind if this happens again. I just want it to disappear,” Kim tells West.

In divorce court, Kim reveals that West has helped her stay calm, but she’s still adamant about preventing further damage for the sake of their four children.

“Draft something so they can erase the tape immediately. I don’t want it copied. I have four kids and can’t go through this again. I have all the time, money, and resources to burn everything down,” Kim tells her lawyers.

Earlier this year, Kim Kardashian denied the existence of a second sex tape after Kanye West publicly claimed he had obtained a laptop with previously unreleased footage.

“After reviewing, there’s nothing sexual, just footage on a plane trip to Mexico and footage at a club, restaurant during the same trip. Kim remains steadfast in her belief that there is no second sex tape. After 20 years, she truly wants to move past this, focusing on the positive things she’s doing as a mother, a businesswoman,” Kim’s representative told People at the time.

In addition to the sex tape, the first episode of “The Kardashians” introduces fans to Kourtney’s soon-to-be husband – Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Kourtney reveals the two began their romantic relationship after years of being friends.

As for Khloé, she continues to co-parent her daughter True (4 years old) with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. “Tristan and I are not together anymore. He’s one of my best friends. I see Tristan a few times a week, he’s a really good dad. Tristan and I have no tension. We really get along. It’s easy to co-parent with him,” Khloé said.

The upcoming episodes of “The Kardashians” featuring Kim Kardashian and her family will air on Hulu every Thursday.
