BEYONCÉ’S ‘RENAISSANCE’ IN THE TOP 5 CONCERT MOVIES WITH THE HIGHEST SALES

Beyoncé’sRenaissance is now among the top five highest grossing concert films ever made, despite it being released just earlier this month.

The movie, which follows the recording of Bey’s Renaissance album and her global tour of the same name, has reportedly pulled in just over $30 million at the U.S. box office since its December 1 release.

Beyoncé announces movie about her Renaissance world tour – WOW

That makes it the fifth highest-grossing concert film of all time, putting Beyoncé in the company of fellow superstars like Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.

The highest-grossing concert film ever was also released this year — Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour — and set numerous records on its way to grossing almost a quarter of a billion dollars worldwide.

In second place is Justin Bieber’sNever Say Never with $73 million, followed by Michael Jackson’s This is It ($72 million) in third and Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World ($65 million) rounding out the top five.

Directed by Beyoncé herself, Renaissance initially debuted at No. 1 at the box office with over $22 million, making the first time a film has opened with over $20 million on the post-Thanksgiving weekend in 20 years.

Despite her loyal fans and widely positive reviews, the film suffered a 77 percent dip in its second week at the domestic box office, bringing in a humble $5 million.

Worldwide, Renaissance has grossed over $38 million.

Renaissance is not Beyoncé’s first foray into directing. In 2019, she directed the 2019 concert film Homecoming which centered around her headlining performance at the 2018 edition of Coachella.

She has also co-directed music videos like “Hold Up,” “Sorry” and “Heaven,” as well as the 2020 musical film Black Is King, which served as a visual companion to her Lion King: The Gift soundtrack.

In other news, it was recently reported that the iconic singer is nearing billionaire status following the success of her Renaissance Tour.

According to Forbes, the 42-year-old has seen her wealth skyrocket in 2023 from its previous $540 million estimation.

The outlet reported that Bey personally pocketed $100 million from her widely successful Renaissance Tour, which ran from May to October this year.

The 56-show trek grossed nearly $600 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing tour by both a female act and Black act in history.

The value of her music catalog — which includes multi-platinum, chart-topping albums like Dangerously in LoveBeyoncé and Lemonade — has also increased to $300 million.
