Renowned for his soulful vocals, impeccable taste, and effortless sophistication, John Legend is well-versed in creative collaboration and cultivating inviting spaces. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that the award-winning artist and entrepreneur has partnered with Etsy on a limited-edition decor and lifestyle collection, co-designed with an inspiring group of Etsy shops run by women, Black and underrepresented sellers.

Drawing inspiration from John’s own interior style and life at home, this co-created assortment of meaningful pieces is designed to infuse warmth, character and a relaxed refinement into any space, featuring items such as earth-toned ceramics and planters, intricately-woven baskets and vases, textured throw pillows, elevated pet accessories and a sleek oak wood record storage unit.

“It’s important for me to fill my home with high quality pieces made by people who approach their craft with intention,” says John Legend. “Each item in this collection was made with joy in partnership with makers who inspire me, and I hope these special pieces make you feel right at home.”

As a champion for marginalized voices, John prioritized working with female, Black and underrepresented sellers on Etsy to co-design this collection, including two members of the historic Gullah basket weavers community, part of the Etsy Uplift Makers Program. Passed down for more than eight generations, the Gullah basket weaving crafting technique is considered the oldest African craft tradition in the United States – dating back to the 1700s when enslaved rice farmers first brought the art form to South Carolina.

“I love Etsy because it gives a platform to so many creative and diverse makers, who pour their heart and soul into their work. Getting to collaborate with these talented artists was such a special experience, because the finished products tell a story about the people who made them.”

The 11 shops featured in this Creator Collab represent five countries, including sellers from the US, Canada, the UK, Bulgaria and Poland. Stay tuned for John’s second Etsy Creator Collab launch later this year, a Holiday collection full of seasonal decor and gifts.
