Courtney Love has hit out at Taylor Swift in a new interview, branding the superstar “not important” and “not interesting as an artist”.

Speaking to The Evening Standard, Love discussed a number of world famous female songwriters as part of a conversation around her new BBC radio show Courtney Love’s Women.

However, she didn’t share any admiration for Swift, saying: “Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

She then turned her focus onto Lana Del Rey, adding: “I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off.

“Up until ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”

Elsewhere, she spoke about Beyoncé and her new country turn on Cowboy Carter, saying: “I like the idea of Beyoncé doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music.”

This Friday (April 19), Taylor Swift will release new album Tortured Poets Department. It will feature collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine, and will pack a total of 17 songs (including bonus track, ‘The Manuscript’).
