Taylor Swift donates $1 million to disaster relief fund

Taylor Swift donates $1 million to Tennessee emergency relief fund after storms devastated the area.

On The Tennessean on December 11, Hal Cato – CEO of the foundation – confirmed that the singer’s contribution will help people affected by natural disasters with finances, food, temporary housing, post-storm cleanup and animal care. CNN reported that 13 tornadoes touched down on November 9, injuring more than 50 people and killing six people, including two children. Many buildings were damaged and the area is currently without power.

In 2020, Taylor also donated a similar amount to the fund after tornadoes caused great damage to the state. “Nashville is my home, many people have lost their homes and other things that make me extremely sad,” the singer wrote on Instagram at the time. She also provided a link to the support website, encouraging fans to contribute.

Recently, when conducting the Eras Tour, Taylor also contributed financially to the performance venues. During two concert nights in Detroit in June, the singer donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank in eastern Michigan – providing food support to those in need. “No matter what happens in life, be nice to people,” she said.

A representative of the organization thanked the singer, writing on social networks: “Taylor Swift supports food banks at a critical time – when resources are decreasing but needs are increasing. Her kindness will help the Families across eastern Michigan live happy, healthy lives. In addition, she also inspired many people to join hands to help and raise the importance of food security.”
