he death of legendary designer Roberto Cavalli has hit the fashion world with a seismic impact as a number of musicians and fashionistas – including Taylor Swift – mourn the death of the creative visionary.

His work means his legacy as one of the male designers to empower women, helping them stand out for the big occasion, remains untarnished.

Cavalli was recognized as one of the greatest contributors to fashion thanks to his ability to mix different types of patterns and fabrics in clothing. This particular style led him to collaborate with a number of renowned female artists, who over the years were fascinated by the Italian designer’s unique style.

Swift, known for her own bold outfits and desire to create custom looks on stage, was instantly captivated by Cavalli’s designs. Their collaboration began at the Grammy Awards last year, when Taylor wore a custom Roberto Cavalli design on the red carpet.

He and his company created several iconic looks for Swift over the years, including the ‘Sparks Fly’ dress.

Swift also kicked off her highly anticipated Eras tour in March 2023 in Glendale, AZ, wearing three custom couture capsule looks created by the Roberto Cavalli Atelier.

Inspired by the tour’s representation as a journey through Taylor’s different eras of music, Puglisi designed a Roberto Cavalli Couture capsule collection made of jewelled dresses rich in precious Swarovski crystal embroidery and intricate embellishments, which each garment requiring more than 170 hours of careful hand-craftsmanship by skilled artisans.

There are other dresses used by Swift, such as the asymmetrical catsuit with a red snake from Reputation, that will go down in her book of iconic looks.

But the custom Roberto Cavalli light gold fringed mini dress – fully embroidered in light gold flounces of briolette fringe with horizontal zig zag tiers all over the body – remains one of the best.
