Even though they had meticulously prepared every stage for production, USUK artists expressed regret and estrangement from their own songs.
To release any musical product, the artist, more or less, has to go through a long period of preparation. From coming up with ideas, composing or finding musicians to compose, recording and even filming MVs,… it’s a painstaking process to create quality products. Because everyone wants their “children” to be known and supported by a wide audience. But it’s strange when there are music products (even hits with hundreds of millions of views) that are estranged from their owners.
Below are a series of world stars who regret releasing their music products:
Taylor Swift regrets that “The Old Taylor” accidentally touched on LGBT issues
In an interview with MTV in 2011, Taylor Swift shared that she regretted releasing “Picture To Burn”. This is the title song of her fourth studio album “Taylor Swift” released in 2006. Originally, in the lyrics of the song “Picture To Burn” there is a line: “I realize you love yourself more than you could ever love me / So go and tell all your friends that I’m obsessive and crazy / That’s fine, I’ll tell mine you’re gay, by the way.” (Translation: I’ve realized that you love yourself more than you love me. So go and tell your friends that I’m a dreamer and crazy. And that’s fine. I’ll tell myself that he is gay).
Taylor Swift shared that “Picture To Burn” is one of the compositions from when she was just starting out on her artistic path and that is “The Old Taylor”. Currently, the snake queen has different thoughts, more mature, more correct. She regretted that the song’s lyrics touched on gender issues.
Katy Perry doesn’t like the hit that made her famous
2008 was one of the golden years of female star Katy Perry when the album “One Of The Boys” was successfully released. In particular, it can be seen that “I Kissed A Girl” was like a storm that “swept” countless large and small music charts at that time. However, at the show Glamor (2018), Katy Perry shared that she really wanted to change the lyrics: “If I had to rewrite that song again, I would definitely edit the lyrics. Look They are so stereotypical and have no personality.”
Iggy Azalea wants to delete a song with racist implications
“Unlucky” female rapper Iggy Azalea had a difficult time because she was heavily criticized after releasing the song “D.R.U.G.S”. It’s easy to understand, because in the lyrics there is a line: “When the relay starts, I’m a runaway slave, Master”. Human!). This song has caused a lot of controversy because of its implication of racism and slavery.
After a period of suffering from public opinion, Iggy Azalea expressed regret that she did not intend to offend anyone and regretted not thinking more carefully before releasing the song.

Miley Cyrus doesn’t want the public to remember her image as a rebellious girl in the past
Miley Cyrus opened up on the Zach Sang Show about making the MV “Wrecking Ball” – one of the biggest hits in her music career. Accordingly, Miley shared: “It’s really something I can never erase. The image of me being naked and sitting on an iron ball will probably always exist in the minds of many people. You know, once you do crazy things, it will stay intact forever. I really don’t want to live like that anymore… Before filming the MV, I should have imagined how it would haunt me. I’m persistent until now when I do scenes like that.”
Does Lana Del Rey want to erase a sad love story?
In the song “Ultraviolence” that Lana Del Rey released in 2013, there is a line: “He hit me and it felt like a kiss.” (Tough translation: He hit me and it was like a kiss). Hollywood’s queen of melancholy shared with Pitch Folk (2017): “I really don’t like it at all. I don’t want to sing it. I sing Ultraviolence but I never sing that line.”
Is “Ultraviolence” a sad memory of Lana’s old love so she doesn’t want to mention it?

Drake was criticized so he was forced to change the lyrics
In 2013, while promoting the album “Nothing Was the Same”, Drake received a lot of backlash after releasing the song “Jodeci (Freestyle)”. In it, there is a part where J. Cole raps implying that he is an “artist” and his enemies are “autistic and stupid”. Drake quickly apologized to fans and promised to remove that offensive line from “Jodeci”.
Lady Gaga and a series of songs you never want to remember
“Telephone” is inherently an impressive collaboration between the duo Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. This is also a prominent song in the album “The Flame Monster”. But Lady Gaga shared with Time Out in 2011 that she hated the song’s MV and only wished she could fix it.
In early 2019, problems related to R. Kelly’s sexual harassment issue and a fierce boycott around the world caused Lady Gaga to be affected. This forced her to remove the hit “Do What U Want” from all music applications because this was her previous collaboration with R.Kelly.
In early December 2019, the monster mother once again made people crazy when she posted on Twitter that “I don’t remember ARTPOP”. Immediately, her post attracted many mixed opinions, most of the comments were harsh because they did not understand why Lady Gaga wanted to forget her “brainchild”.
Celine Dion followed in Lady Gaga’s footsteps to take down a big hit
Not only Lady Gaga joined the crowd of people boycotting R.Kelly, but also legendary singer Celine Dion. The female singer also decided to remove the song “I’m Your Angel” in collaboration with R.Kelly on the album “These Are Special Times” (1998) from all online music applications.
