Jack Black and Kyle Gass are channeling their inner pop stars.

On Thursday, the Tenacious D bandmates and longtime pals released a snippet of their rendition of Britney Spears’ breakout 1998 hit “… Baby One More Time,” along with a video of the duo rocking out.

At the end of the clip, Black, 54, holds up a fist, revealing the word “BABY” written across his fingers. He captioned the video on TikTok and Instagram, “Tenacious B! 🐼,” while on X (formerly known as Twitter), the band wrote, “STILL BELIEVE 🐼💥🐯.”

The emojis shared by Black and Gass, 63, have fans speculating that the song might be tied to Black’s upcoming long-awaited animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 4.

Despite their own impressive discography, Tenacious D hasn’t shied away from lending their rock-out style to covers of songs by Chris Isaak, Taylor Swift and more in the past.

During The Give Back-ular Spectacular! event in Los Angeles back in October 2023, held to support members of SAG-AFTRA during the Hollywood strike, Black delivered an impromptu cover of Swift’s Midnights track “Anti-Hero.”

In a fan-posted video from the event, the actor-musician-comedian stripped down to just his boxers as the audience cheered. He then walked down to an audience member to ask where they were from, getting just “Los Angeles” as a hilarious response.

Shortly after, Black delivered a theatrical rendition of the “Anti-Hero” chorus, while prancing from side to side across the stage and doing a backward shuffle when he got to the “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me” lyric.

The fun Swift cover came on the heels of Black’s successful “Peaches” song from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which he made a surprise appearance to perform during a Jonas Brothers concert back in December 2023.

Black returns as the heroic Po in Kung Fu Panda 4, more than eight years after the release of Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2016. Between that film and the upcoming fourth installment, the actor also voiced Po in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, which premiered on Netflix in 2022 and released its third season this past September.

The new sequel finds Po “tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace,” which “poses a couple of obvious problems,” per a synopsis. “First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position.”

“In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places,” the synopsis adds, in part, also touching on new characters voiced by Viola Davis and Awkwafina.

As for the project Black is most proud of in his career so far, he told PEOPLE in April 2023, “In a weird way, it might be Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, because that’s the only movie that I wrote.”

“That one is actually my real baby,” he added of the 2006 musical comedy he also starred in alongside Gass, which featured many elements inspired by their real-life journey as a band. “Maybe it’s not the best, but it is my proudest.”
