The recent faceoff between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors was filled with some bizarre and unexpected moments. Prior to the shot clock malfunction and the controversial decision to not grant LeBron James his 3 pointer, Lakers fans were left in a state of worry after star player Anthony Davis was elbowed in the eye by Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis.
The violation, which occurred during the first quarter, forced Jackson-Davis to quit the game after only 12 minutes of playing time. NBA Insider Shams Charania revealed that the player developed a corneal abrasion and NBA enthusiasts, including medical experts, have since been keeping an eye out for any update regarding his condition.
ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin recently took to his official X account to qualm the fans’ concerns. He stated: “Anthony Davis’ vision was impaired and his eye was swollen shut after the contact, a source familiar with the injury told ESPN. Davis will be monitored overnight and Sunday to determine his availability Monday against Atlanta”. The post caught the attention of Dr. Rajpal Brar, a Doctor of Physical Therapy based in California. Hoping to provide his opinion on the same, Brar replied to the ESPN reporter’s post by writing “Hoping for the best. Typically corneal abrasion’s take a couple days.”
This is not the first injury that Anthony Davis has developed during the current season. The player was forced to miss out on a January 30 game against the Atlanta Hawks and a February 1 one against the Boston Celtics after his Achilles injuries started to act up. The player continued to remain on the injury report for the same till the recent game.
Despite this, Davis remained one of the most consistent players of the season. Judging by how concerning the player’s recent injury is, however, that stat may end up being subject to change.
LeBron James stated his concern about Anthony Davis’ eye
The recent Warriors clash is not something that the King would want to remember in the long run. Not only did the Lakers lose the game, the availability of his team’s second highest scorer has once again been put into question. Given the close professional bond between Anthony Davis and LeBron James, people were waiting to hear what the latter had to say about his teammate’s condition.
The official X account of the Lakers Nation recently put out a post. It stated “LeBron James says Anthony Davis’ eye looked like it was starting to close when he saw him.” LeBron expanded on his remarks during a post-game Q and A session with media members. Addressing whether the Brow’s absence contributed to the Lakers loss, the 39-year-old stated “When you lose AD, it just hurts the balance of our team”.
With the Lakers currently placed as the 10 seed on the points chart, this may not be the right time to hurt the balance of the team. Therefore, fans will hope that the next update on Anthony Davis will bring some good news for them.
