Jennifer Lopez Admits She Had A ‘Fear Of Being Alone’ Before ‘Plot Twist’ Of Ben Affleck Reunion!
Jennifer Lopez is opening up about Bennifer 1.0, 2.0 and the scary time in between!
The Shotgun Wedding star appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday morning and had a LOT to share about her deep-seated fears about being alone. In case you haven’t heard, watched, streamed, and/or danced to, J.Lo released her new album This Is Me… Now, and its accompanying movie of the same title last week. The projects serve as a follow up to her 2002 album This Is Me… Then, which really captured what life was like for her at the time — namely how she was engaged to Ben Affleck.
But we all know the story from there: they broke up, moved on and had kids with other people, and then years later got back together. Something that really inspired the 54-year-old to make another intimate project about her state of being! About that, she told Kelly:
“In kind of like a strange plot twist of life, we wound up getting back together 18 years later, and I was really inspired to go back in and make music again in that same way.”

But there was also a ton of uncertainty in her time away from Ben.
Kelly brought up how one of the things the Jenny From the Block singer talks about in the movie is her “fear of being alone,” and how it led her to do a bit of introspection:
“I don’t know if it was because I was a middle child, or because, you know, me and my [sisters], we grew up and we had one bed and the three of us slept in it so I was used to having bodies next to me. I don’t know what it was … but I got very comforted by that, and I liked that feeling.”
She continued:
“I had to learn the healthy way of, like, being alone and being my own best friend, and being my own company.”
The mother of two added:
“I’m better at it now. It took a lot of work to get there.”
Just last week, Jen talked about how she really did have to put in a lot of work to be able to get to a place where she was comfortable being alone. And when she finally did, that was when “the universe” threw her a bone and brought Ben right back into her life.
