ALAN RITCHSON PACKED on a whole lot of muscle when he won the role of Jack Reacher, the swole hero of the Prime Video series based on Lee Child’s novels. In his Men’s Health cover story, the actor revealed how his entire workout routine changed prior to filming Season 1 of Reacher, with him gaining 30 pounds for the show.

“How is it that it doesn’t matter where you are on the journey, everyone wants to cut that elusive 5 lbs? I’m right there,” he wrote in the caption, joking that it “doesn’t really help” that his wife Cat would prefer it if he “looked like Homer Simpson.”
“Anywho, time to cut the mayonnaise and get that chest vein back boys,” he continued. “Let’s go. (Right after I finish the left over pie in the fridge…)”
Ritchson has spoken previously about his “intuitive” approach to eating, and how he won’t hesitate to satisfy a craving for cookie dough or key lime pie.
“I eat the hell whatever I want,” he told Men’s Health, adding: “When I go into that gym, I’m like, ‘I deserve to die for how I’ve eaten,’ so I’m going to try to work myself to death.”
“What I would love to find in my life is a balance, where I kind of eat healthy and then don’t have to work quite as hard.” he added, admitting that he’s not there yet. But if that’s what he looks like while sneaking slices of leftover pie, he’s got nothing to worry about.
