Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reportedly have no intention of giving up on their marriage, despite claims that those close to them think a divorce may be in both of their best interests.

The couple recently made headlines after being photographed during what appeared to be an argument while on a vacation in St. Barts to kick off the new year.

Speaking to OK! Magazinea source claims the couple was arguing over the trip’s itinerary, which is a sign of larger issues in the relationship.

“Ben wanted this vacation to be relaxing but Jennifer’s up at 6 a.m. dictating their schedule,” the insider explained. “She’s extremely picky about everything, from maid service to where to eat dinner. Sometimes Ben can’t hide his annoyance, and that’s what people were seeing in St. Barts.”

Lopez and Affleck are reportedly collaborating with each other on a new movie for the first time in decades (they originally met on 2002’s Gigli). The source says that despite working on Unstoppable: The Anthony Robbles Story together, it’s put more strain on their marriage rather than brought the couple closer together.

“They’re both under a lot of pressure to dispel the notion that together they’re box-office poison,” the source shared. “They have a lot riding on this, and Jennifer is obsessed with every detail and has been bothering Ben.”

The movie is being produce by Affleck’s new production studio The Town, which he launched with his childhood friend Matt Damon. Apparently, Lopez feels extra pressure to make the film a success given that Damon reportedly doesn’t believe she’s a good fit for Affleck.

“Matt’s had serious reservations about Bennifer 2.0 since the beginning. He’s tried to be publicly supportive for Ben’s sake, but the fact is he hates the way J Lo treats his buddy and can no longer hold his tongue,” a different source claimed last month.

Apparently, Damon believes Lopez is too “controlling” of Affleck, which seems to echo the same sentiments shared by the insider from the recent report about their marital woes.

“It’s no secret Ben and J Lo haven’t been getting along, as he always seems to be in the doghouse. It’s obvious something needs to change, but when Matt started giving Ben advice, he totally blew up,” the source said.

“History is repeating itself because 20 years ago they stopped talking for the exact same reason. But Matt can’t keep quiet, even if it means alienating Ben,” they added.

Bennifer began dating in July 2002. They got engaged later that same year but called off their wedding in September 2003. The high-profile couple eventually broke up in January 2004, marking the end of their relationship in the early 2000s, citing media pressure as the main reason they didn’t go through with the wedding. Nevertheless, they rekindled their relationship in 2021, and tied the knot the following year.

Lopez and Affleck may be denying relationship problems nowadays, but there’s no doubt the public is just as obsessed with them as ever.
