Greenland, a natural disaster film released 4 years ago, follows a family on a dangerous journey as a comet threatens Earth.

The sequel, titled Greenland: Migration, is finally getting closer to becoming a reality and will begin filming soon. Gerard Butler will reunite with director Ric Roman Waught and screenwriter Chris Sparling for this new post-apocalyptic film.

Originally scheduled for 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a delay in the production of Migration.

However, filming is now set to begin in April and will pick up where the first film left off. The sequel will follow the Garrity family on a perilous journey across what’s left of Europe to find a new home.

While Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin are confirmed to be returning, the rest of the cast for the sequel is still unknown.

In the original film, Butler played the role of John Garrity, an engineer who flees with his family from Atlanta after learning about the comet heading towards Earth.

The film also starred Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, David Denman, Hope Davis, Roger Dale, Andrew Bachelor, Merrin Dungey, Holt McCallany, and Scott Glenn.

Greenland was well-received by both audiences and critics, grossing $52 million at the global box office. Despite the delay in the sequel, fans can look forward to the continuation of the thrilling story.

As for now, movie enthusiasts are encouraged to catch up on the films nominated for the 2024 Oscars, which will be celebrated on March 11.
