SUMMARY

Greenland: Migration , a sequel to the 2020 film Greenland , reveals its start date for filming as well as returning cast members.
Greeland: Migration does not yet have a release date, but will begin filming in April of this year.
Greenland was forced to release during lockdown in 2020, meaning that Greenland: Migration has a huge potential for growth within the series.

The Greenland sequel, Greenland: Migration, gets a major filming and returning cast update. Released in 2020, Greenland is an apocalyptic film starring Gerard Butler. Its plot focuses on an intimate story of a family who struggles to stay alive in the face of a catastrophic natural disaster. Since the release of Greenland, a sequel titled Greenland: Migration has been confirmed.

As per Deadline, major updates have been announced for Greenland: Migration. The Greenland sequel will begin filming in April 2024. In addition, both Butler and co-star Morena Baccarin will be returning to their roles, alongside Greenland director Ric Roman Waugh.

Greenland: Migration’s script was co-written by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune. Sparling also wrote the script for Greeland, as well as other notable credits, including BuriedThe Sea of Trees, and ATM. LaFortune is a newer talent in the industry, but he has worked with both Waugh and Butler before on the 2023 film Kandahar.

The current synopsis for the Greenland: Migration script reads “the Garrity family must leave the safety of the Greenland bunker after the comet ‘Clarke’ decimated the earth and the family embarks on a harrowing journey across the wasteland of Europe to find a new home.”

With an intriguing premise, Greenland: Migration has the potential to expand the value of the first film greatly.

Released internationally in the summer of 2020, Greenland suffered from fighting against the COVID shutdown, before releasing exclusively to HBO Max in the United States. Because of this, Greenland only brought in $52.3 million worldwide.

Greenland: Migration will hope to expand this box office as it aims for a proper release. The film does not yet have a release date, but the filming updates make it hopeful that the climate apocalypse sequel will be arriving sooner rather than later.

Hopefully, Greenland: Migration can live up to its promising beginnings with a strong cast and behind-the-scenes team assembled.
