This time, actress Kate Beckinsale, who made her acting debut in the 1993 movie, Much Ado About Nothing, has revealed how long ago Reeves rescued her from a very embarrassing situation.

Their friendship has a long history. The actress even related a throwback incident in May of this year, demonstrating the depth of the friendship between the two actors.

This year, Beckinsale returned to the Cannes Film Festival as she attended a number of events, including the amfAR charity gala. Her attendance at one of the biggest red carpet events in the world must have brought back memories of the first time she walked that same carpet.

We all agree that Keanu Reeves, the actor best known for his roles in The Matrix and John Wick, is a pretty cool man. But as a result of a story Kate Beckinsale posted on Instagram in May, the actor, 58, has now gotten some belated credit for what happened at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.

Ironically, despite Beckinsale’s admission that she experienced a wardrobe malfunction, the two were expected to walk the red carpet for the movie, Much Ado About Nothing.

The English actress shared a throwback photo from the red carpet along with a caption explaining how her mother was able to find a Cannes photo taken more than two decades prior:

“I had bought the bodysuit in the Sock Shop at the airport, and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch popped themselves open, and it flipped up like a roller blind.”

Beckinsale accessorized her green bodysuit and skirt for the event with a silk cardigan, a pair of brown earrings, and a silver barrette. She continued to describe how she told her peers about the wardrobe problem in the caption:

“I didn’t feel it was appropriate to go delving around in my undercarriage with all of us in the back of the car so I just quietly panicked. Walked out onto the biggest red carpet of my life and whispered to Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard what had happened.”

She then thanked Reeves and Leonard for holding onto one end of her gusset (the part of her bodysuit that broke while she was posing on the red carpet):

“In this picture, I am holding the front gusset down and the two of them are holding the back gusset.”

The actress, 50, said in her conclusion:

“Absolute legends who may not even have fully understood the physics of what was happening or even heard the word ‘gusset’ before but both jumped in to save me no questions asked x.”

Keanu Reeves is a name that is well-known to viewers all over the world; his captivating performances and mysterious demeanor have won hearts.

For the unversed, as a thank-you gift for their assistance with his film, he gave personalized Rolex Submariner watches to a group of stuntmen who worked with Reeves on John Wick 4. Additionally, he made custom shirts for each member that displayed how many times his character “killed” them in the movie.

Also, Reeves agreed to accept a pay reduction worth millions of dollars in order to satisfy Al Pacino‘s salary demands for The Devil’s Advocate. The Matrix actor “does not always seem motivated by money,” the Wall Street Journal reported in 2001. In fact, according to the report:

“He has literally handed over part of his salary to other actors or crew on several films.”
