Ordinary Angels is a hit for Alan Ritchson, breaking his Rotten Tomatoes records with an 81% score.
The movie is based on a true story of a hairdresser saving a life, starring Ritchson and Hilary Swank.
Despite other successful shows, this is Ritchson’s highest-rated movie on the platform.
Alan Ritchson is enjoying yet another success, as Ordinary Angels is breaking records for the rising Reacher star. The movie is based on the true story of a hairdresser helping a father save his daughter’s life during a snowstorm.
Alongside Ritchson, Hilary Swank is the leading actor and the pair have already been earning immense praise from critics for their performance in the faith-based drama.
The Ordinary Angels reviews have broken a Rotten Tomatoes record for Ritchson. With an 81% score on the Tomatometer and a near-perfect 99% audience score at the time of writing, this is officially his highest-rated movie on the platform.
He has had shows that have outperformed it, including Reacher and Titans, but the majority of his movies have earned a “Rotten” designation. The next-closest performer is Above the Shadows with a 70% Tomatometer score.
Alan Ritchson’s Rotten Tomatoes History
Ritchson does not have too many successful movies and shows in his Rotten Tomatoes filmography. Many of his appearances between his Rotten Tomatoes debut in 2006 and his break-out role in Reacher are simply guest appearances, making their overall score somewhat irrelevant to his career.
Still, it is impressive that he had guest spots in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Smallville, and New Girl, which each respectively earned 95%, 78%, and 95% on the Tomatometer.
In terms of his movie career, Ritchson’s Tomatometer scores are shaky. In 2007, he starred in Steam, which had a 13% Tomatometer score. He then went on to star as Raphael in 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the recipient of a 21% Tomatometer score.
Its sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, earned a mere 37%. Ghosts of War and Fast X both similarly disappointed. Viewers have been kinder, as his movies The Turkey Bowl, Fast X, Office Uprising, and Lazer Team all earned audience scores above 80%.
Ordinary Angels appears to be a departure from some of his more disappointing movies. Ritchson is defying expectations with a near-100% audience score and an 81% Tomatometer score from critics.
For an actor who has largely made his name on the small screen, that is a massive success and a major improvement from the disappointment of his other films. That could be a good sign for Ritchson’s next upcoming movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which will be released on April 19, and could continue his Hollywood rise.
