It was a bloodied and frantic looking Keanu Reeves who threw himself around a deserted New York street on Friday – but it was all in a day’s work for the actor, who was filming scenes for his latest movie.

The actor was on the set of forthcoming hit man drama John Wick, and he appeared to filming on of its numerous action sequences with co-star Michael Nyqvist.

With cuts and gashes marking his distinctive features the actor was filmed wielding a powerful machine gun in the direction of Nyqvist, whose hands remained up in the air for much of the shoot.

At one point Keanu acrobatically  jumps into his co-star’s path for what appears to be a final showdown in what has been billed as a revenge movie.

Directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, John Wick follows a former hit man looking to leave behind his life of crime after his wife passes away.

Unfortunately, his colleagues have other ideas, and the one-time contract killer finds himself the target of his former employers.

Reeves will star alongside Bridget Moynahan, who plays his wife, and Willem Dafoe stars as a former colleague and close acquaintance who is hired to exterminate his friend.

Keanu has been spotted on several occasions over the last month looking a little bruised and battered as he filmed scenes for the blockbuster.

On Wednesday he was seen emerging from behind a car on the Brooklyn set in the same black suit before firing his weapon.

The film is said to feature numerous deaths – amongst them Wick’s own dog – and producer Basil Iwanyk has promised fans a bloodbath.

‘About 95 people are killed. Literally,’ he said.

‘We were trying to justify how many people it’s ok to kill after a dog is killed and a home is invaded and we got to 95.’

The film is expected to go on general release in 2014.

With snow on the floor, the Hollywood star had a serious expression on his face as he used a number of vehicles for protection.

He was seen dashing out with his gun poised in the air before pulling out a second, smaller gun from his pocket.

Earlier this month, Keanu was sporting much more serious-looking injuries, which included a blood stain to the chest.

The A-Lister has recently starred in samurai film 47 Ronin, in which he vows to seek vengeance after his master is murdered.

The handsome star plays Kai in the fantasy hit, which has been well-received by critics.
