With each of her most famous songs gaining over 200M views on YouTube. The rapper first rose to fame after her album “Bodak Yellow” became a hit. Since then she did not have to look back ever. Cardi B is recently in the headlines for pleading guilty to assault charges to an alleged fight that broke out in a New York strip club. As she became a new mother, she now wants to be a better human and she wants to start the process by taking accountability for her actions.

What did Cardi B do?

The incident which occurred at the Angels Strip Club in Flushing, Queens has resulted in this. After a bartender claimed to have an affair with her husband Offset who is also a rapper, Cardi B failed to keep her calm. This altercation escalated to such an extent that it “forced” her to assault two bartenders. She allegedly threw champagne bottles and objects that were available in her close proximity toward the girls. Cardi B also ordered her companions to attack them as well. This “wild” night resulted in her getting sentenced.

Cardi B and her husband met in 2016 for the first time and kept their business hidden very well. Although their engagement was pretty public, the news of them getting married in 2017 secretly wasn’t out until 2018. The couple welcomed a child in the same year as well. Since then, cheating rumors about Offset was quite prevalent.

These rumors forced the singer to defend her relationship mid-performance by stating the above-mentioned quote. Since then the pair have been on again and off again while dodging the controversies.

Will Cardi B serve jail time?

Not yet. She was sentenced to 15 days of community service following the event. Cardi B has also been restricted to contact or engage with the women involved in the fight for three years. While also, paying their legal fees. After sentencing the artist, Melinda Katz the district attorney of Queens said,

“No one is above the law,”

Jeffrey Bush and Tawana Jackson-Morel who accompanied Cardi B that night will face six months of jail time. However, Cardi B failed to meet the required obligations while dealing with the recent loss of her husband’s cousin and Migos band member TakeOff. Queens’ court extended the completion date to March 1 considering the situation. If she fails this time, she will be facing jail time.

Cardi B’s lawyer Drew Findling stated his thankfulness in this statement,

“Personally and professionally, Cardi is dedicated to community service and charitable endeavors. She therefore appreciates the court giving her until March 1st to complete her community service commitment in Queens, New York.”

“Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to. These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most—the music and my fans.”

The “WAP” rapper pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment and also pledges to work on herself.
