The 2002 musical black comedy movie starring Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the lead was also slated to have Theron before she was replaced with Renée Zellweger. But eventually, the story took a different turn when the director of the movie was changed and Marshall didn’t want Charlize Theron. “For a while I was attached to ‘Chicago’. I got kicked off it. Yeah, the director kicked me off it.”
But even after losing the role, Charlize Theron didn’t have any bad feelings about Zellweger and spoke highly about her.

But the actress also didn’t have to wait long before getting her hands on Monster the following year in 2003. The movie focuses on the life of a prostitute who turns into a serial killer and helped her bag an Academy Award for Best Actress.
