Charlize Theron expressed her firm stance on the matter, emphasizing that she would never commit to gaining 40 pounds for a movie role again. Her resolve stems from the realization that shedding the extra weight is an arduous task. She recounted her experience during Monster when, at 27, she swiftly shed 30 pounds by skipping meals to return to her usual weight.

“I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds.’ I will never do it again because you can’t take it off. When I was 27, I did Monster. I lost 30 pounds, like, overnight. I missed three meals and I was back to my normal weight.” 

Following her remarkable performance in Monster, Charlize Theron earned the coveted Academy Award for Best Actress, sharing the screen with Christina Ricci. In the past, she had openly discussed her ability to quickly return to her former weight after her role in the 2003 biographical crime drama.

This desire is further fueled by the immense success both actors have achieved individually in their action-driven films such as John Wick and Atomic Blonde, amplifying the fans’ clamor to witness their onscreen pairing.

“Listen, as soon as I get the call, I’ll be there. They just have to tell me where, when and I’ll show up. Keanu is one of my most favorite people in the whole wide world; I absolutely love him. I respect him, I admire him and I am so grateful that I got to make two movies with him.”
