‘One of his lines was that Renée Zellweger and I slept with him to get jobs’: Charlize Theron blasts Harvey Weinstein ‘for lying about her having sex with him’

Charlize Theron has blasted Harvey Weinstein amid claims he told aspiring actresses she had slept with him to get acting roles.

The Bombshell actress says the disgraced producer, 67, ‘would pit women against one another’, adding: ‘He was really, really good at that. There was no limit to him.’

Oscar winner Theron, 44, told The New York Times Weinstein also lied when it came to claims Renée Zellweger had slept with him.

She added: ‘There was a lot of, like, ‘Well, I’m talking to Gwyneth for this movie …’

‘One of his lines was that Renée [Zellweger] and I slept with him to get jobs. There was no limit to him. Even in the sexual favors, he would still pit us against each other.’

Zellweger, 50, has previously said any suggestion she slept with Weinstein is not true. A spokesperson for the star said in 2017: ‘If Harvey said that, he’s full of s***.’

Actress Melissa Sagemiller said in a lawsuit filed in 2017 that Weinstein tried to coax her into having sex with him on the promise that it would further her career.

The lawsuit said that Weinstein told her that ‘Renée Zellweger, Charlize Theron and other actresses gave sexual favors’.

A Weinstein spokesperson said at the time: ‘Mr. Weinstein vehemently denies these accusations and has never stated he slept with any of them.

‘It’s ridiculous that anyone would believe these talented women, academy award winners, provided sexual favors in exchange for roles they earned based on their talent and brilliant work. It’s simply not true.’

Weinstein also denies any allegations of non-consensual sex. He is set to go on trial accused of rape in January.
