Captain Marvel fan art by Bosslogic imagines Charlize Theron as Carol Danvers, the role played by Brie Larson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fan art imagines what actor Charlize Theron would look like as Captain Marvel. The Marvel Cinematic Universe hero is played by Brie Larson, who made her debut last year. She first starred in Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel’s origin story, before appearing in Avengers: Endgame only a month later. Larson’s performance in both films was praised. She more than proved her ability to lead a superhero movie in Captain Marvel, developing a powerful and empathetic hero. What’s more, despite only showing up in the last Avengers movie, she played a crucial role in defeating Thanos and developed a quick camaraderie with her fellow heroes.

For these reasons, it makes sense Marvel Studios announced Captain Marvel 2 only a few months after the first film came out. Though it isn’t expected until 2022, the sequel has already made headlines this year. The directors of the original film, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, won’t return for Captain Marvel 2. Instead, as was recently announced, Candyman (2020) director Nia DaCosta will helm the followup film. Additionally, the sequel will leave the 1990s behind for the present-day MCU, making for an exciting change.

Though viewers are now very used to Larson in the Captain Marvel role, artist Bosslogic recently imagined what Charlize Theron would look like in the part. Impressively, there are two different versions, one showing Theron with Carol’s powers activated and the other without. Though it seems unlikely Theron will play Captain Marvel anytime soon, based on these pieces, she could be a good fit for the role. Check out both images below:

It’s interesting to see what Theron could look like in the MCU, as the actor recently revealed she’s never been asked to appear in a Marvel movie. This news seemed surprising at the time, especially considering Theron’s action background in movies like Mad Max: Fury Road. Many assumed she would be at the top of Marvel’s dream cast list. However, Theron’s reveal doesn’t mean she won’t be offered a role at some point, as the MCU continues to evolve and introduce new characters from the comics. Bosslogic’s art proves Theron would fit right in with the other superheroes.

Captain Marvel seems poised to be a big part of the MCU going forward, especially with so many of the original Avengers either deceased or retired after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Considering the upcoming Ms. Marvel show for Disney+, Carol Danvers’ world, and her impact on it, is only getting bigger. Hopefully, the upcoming Captain Marvel 2 is still near the beginning of the hero’s journey in the MCU.
